Older Properties of Unusual Construction

Pre-purchase surveys of older properties and those of unusual construction, such as timber, stone, cob and thatch, should only be performed by competent surveyors with specialist knowledge in traditional building materials and construction techniques.

For newer thatched properties, further specialist training is necessary due to the various methods of fire protection that are now incorporated into the construction of the building.

In addition to our hands-on experience working with older vernacular and historic properties, we have devoted time and attention to acquiring specialist knowledge that is maintained through both professional experience and membership of a number of specialist organisations.
